In Chile, the 25 or so locals that turned up to the training evening was only just enough.  But they were certainly encouraged and there was a real sense of the presence of God. Nick and Cristina, with us for this one, helped to give the evening a real ‘pep’.  The next day there were about 40 team members from ten churches and an estimated 35 conversions as we set up to serve sandwiches near the entrance to a shopping mall – a good position.  The team members did wonderfully and were amazed at how ‘easy’ it was to minister the love of Jesus.  They were very exercised about the need to go out onto the streets (‘everything always happens in the churches here; we will carry on with this’), which is just as well because it kept them going for a much more difficult day two of mission, by a fruit market.  It was ‘hard ground’ spiritually, and there was electioneering all around to make it more difficult.  Breakthrough came after about three hours of worship.  At the end, there was a beautiful atmosphere.  One man, middle aged and toothless, just stood there drinking in the worship.  An English lady on our team went up to him to give him a barbecued sausage in bread.  He burst into floods of tears.  Apparently, no one had shown him such love.  He was led to Christ and shown real love and acceptance by the rest of the team.
