Technical Tips

Please read BEFORE selecting a video clip to download.

We recommend 3 steps for Windows users:

1. Use the right hand mouse button, and click on the video icon and choose save target as .. then choose a folder on your C: drive, and save the file.

It will take some time to copy.

2. Now open the folder on your C: drive, and double click on the file. The Windows Media Player will attempt to play the file. It is likely that the player will now access the Internet, to get a newer version of the player. Proceed with this process, and a new codec will be installed.

3. Once this is loaded, the video should operate at normal speed, and can be played when required without  being connected to the Internet.

General

The video clips are in Windows Media Player format, and should be OK on recent systems with Windows XP. Older versions of Windows may need an upgrade to the player to be installed. This will have to be downloaded before the video will play.

Computers with Windows 95 or 98 may be too old to work properly.

Newer versions of the player, and for Apple systems, can be selected at the following Microsoft site:

These files may take much longer to download.

Approximate times are given for a dialup connection at ~ 40Kbps.
