The South America missions started triumphantly. Colombia amounted to three one-day missions in three locations. Altogether, we know of 371 people that gave their lives to Christ (about 170 team members from 8 churches took part) and a Colombian On the Move organisation was born with great enthusiasm.  

In the most remarkable mission there, a single church of about sixty people mobilised on a Sunday morning and ‘set up shop’ with barbecues outside their building on a piece of scrub land opposite. It didn’t look too propitious a setting as there were virtually no people about. But the church people were loving, passionate in worship and they soon set about going into the ‘highways and byways’, while starting spirited and lovely worship by the barbecue area. Gradually people started arriving. As in India, they were wooed by love. The seven or eight tables filled. There were never very large numbers there, but it felt buzzing. There was no public preaching. But the team members didn’t stand on ceremony and were soon visibly praying for people’s needs, comforting them, leading them to Christ. Out of 250 guests fed, an extraordinary 172 gave their lives to Christ in two and a half hours. Just think of the impact of this on a church of 60, doing mission in its immediate locality!
